The Best Glasses For Your Face Shape
In recent years glasses have become more than just a necessity for your eyesight. Many of us wear them all day, every day, so why not make them a fashion statement?
Choosing the right glasses for your face shape can make or break your look. The shape, colour and size of the frames that you choose depend on a whole host of factors – eye/hair colour, size and shape of your face and your personal style to name only a few.
There are so many styles and shapes to choose from nowadays, and larger, more imposing frames have come back into fashion. However, it is always important to choose a frame that compliments your face shape.
To give you all a helping hand, we thought we would break it down to the three main face shapes, to help you decide which frame is best for you:
Square
“The general rule with glasses is to play against your facial contours”
That means that if you have a square-shaped face, you should avoid glasses frames with hard, straight lines, as they tend to make your face look boxy. Rounded frames that are wider than your face are great for softening a square shaped face.
Heart
Again, the aim is to choose frames that provide a contrast to your heart-shaped face. Semi-rimmed glasses, for example, will draw attention to the wider part of your face and are best avoided. Light-coloured, bottom-heavy frames tend to be the best option for heart-shaped faces.
Oval
Why the long face? There are plenty of options when it comes to choosing frames for more oval shaped faces, where the face is longer than it is wide. We recommend choosing larger frames, preferably with dark, thick rims, to break up the length of the face.
Choose glasses that contrast with your face shape.
As a good rule of thumb, the more angular your face, the rounder your glasses should be. Equally, if you have a round face, rectangular, angled glasses with hard lines are best for you.
